Honeymoon Day 24 – June 24 – San Francisco, CA

Well, things didn’t go entirely smoothly on the flight to California – Jeff got sick on the flight from Bangkok to Tokyo, and was only a bit better on the flight from Tokyo to California. Other than being sick, he slept almost the entire time. Usually I’m the one that has an easy time sleeping, but I barely slept on the flights, and I didn’t sleep at all in the airports. I did manage to watch three movies on the second flight – The Adjustment Agency, Gulliver’s Travels, and The Green Hornet. They were all pretty good. I don’t know if I was just sleep-deprived, but I giggled all the way through Jack Black’s silly humor in Gulliver’s Travels – it seemed really funny to me. The Green Hornet was done fairly well, too, though I thought there were times when the characters would do things that seemed really odd or ‘out-of-character,’ which also tended to be boring – like when the Green Hornet and Kato got in a fight. Anyway, Jeff and I made it to California, both tired, but all in one piece.

We met up with Neera and Shreyas in the San Francisco Airport, which seems like it would be really difficult, but Neera and I have done it a number of times and had good luck – no delayed flights or weird re-routing (knock on wood). We all headed to Janet and Dan’s Wedding Mountain Headquarters (the giant house they had rented for their wedding ‘crew’), where our first order of business was to take a nice afternoon nap. (We found on our bed cute shirts that said “Janet and Dan’s Wedding Crew” on the front, and “bigger than a party, smaller than a brigade” (Janet’s general explanation of what a wedding ‘crew’ is) on the back.

In the evening we all went to Janet and Dan’s rehearsal dinner, which was in Palo Alto, and open to everyone attending the wedding. They had a great buffet set up with a combination of Mediterranean food and Chinese food. There were lots of people there, and this was the first chance to see everybody, so we spent a lot of time chatting and catching up with friends from college. Janet and Dan had a couple of friends give speeches, which were all very cute, and then people headed back to the Wedding Mountain Headquarters to hang out a bit before getting some sleep.
